Week 1. Ground zero.
OpenAI Scholars Program · Summer 2018
This should not be ground zero. I’ve taken machine learning classes. I’ve done research [ish]. But meeting with the team at OpenAI and my fellow scholars has me feeling quite…inadequate(?)
This week, I read about Google’s Transformers architecture and I’m sure I’ll need to reread it to understand it better. However, I need to do a bit more research on attention mechanisms before I can really have a solid understanding. I also found it helpful to read about probability and numerical computation in machine learning. Understanding the theories and logic behind the space helped refresh what I’d already learned.
My goal over the next seven days is to read about attention mechanisms and finally start doing some ML, courtesy of Fast.Ai’s course! + I’ll be implementing my own email spam filter, using a Bag of Words technique.
